The power of Pip Decks

Hi Reader,

I met Charles Burdett in... maybe 2017, I think. At UX in the City, Manchester. He was running a workshop on how to build websites without a brief... or without the copy. I can't remember. It was eight years ago.

But I do remember Charles. And his workshop proficiency.

Charles is an excellent workshopper!

And so, when he brought out Workshop Tactics in 2019, the first deck from his fabulous brand Pip Decks, I knew I wanted them. And I'm so glad I bought them.

I use them for every workshop. I tell the people who attend my facilitation course to buy them. I also have Storyteller Tactics (another fantastic deck) and use them constantly for positioning and audience work.

And then, about a month ago, Charles dropped me a message.

It turns out, back in 2019, I was the THIRD person to buy Workshop Tactics. The THIRD person! That blows my mind!

Charles sent me a lovely note about appreciating my support in the early days. And, in a show of generosity almost beyond words, gifted me five Copywriting Tactics decks.

WHAT!

Somehow he knew exactly how many I needed for Incredibble's core writing team.

Looking through the deck this morning, I'm reminded how, even after doing this writing thing for a really long time, there's always so much to learn, remember and practise.

Take a look at Pip Decks.

WARNING: You'll probably want them all!

Talking of workshops...

There's one spot left on my Facilitation for Copywriters course, which runs next Tuesday 29th April. It's £199 +VAT. It's 3.5 hours. It is PACKED full of value. Here's what Georgina said about it, after she attended in March.

Very cleverly used real-time activities that applied to the subject matter to help us understand how and why they are so powerful. We were learning through theory but the entire session was a masterclass in facilitation skills, just through watching Helen communicate and engage with us.

One for agency owners...

If you're not already following The Wow Company, get on it! They're an accountancy firm but my god, they know their market. They specialise in agencies. And run the most fantastic events. And produce genuinely insightful resources.

They're worth a follow if only for brand and marketing inspo.

I attended an online webinar this week. It was well hosted and the breakout rooms were well run. Highly recommended.

Have you got an event recommendation worth sharing? Let me know.

Thanks for reading, Reader.

More soon,

Helen

Beg, borrow and steal, Reader, That seems to be the way of it with small business contracts. We live by an unspoken agreement that we'll all borrow each other's terms and hope to god no one actually takes us to court. But not any more folks! I've engaged the help of a brilliant small business solicitor and they've written me the most wonderful contracts. And I don't say that lightly. Because for many years, I used ProCopywriter's Plain English contract. It's hard to beat this contract if...

Networking, Reader. Networking is working. And ain't that always the truth? People buy people. We know this. So first up, here's today's golden nugget: if you're feeling the pinch or wondering how to add impact to your digital campaigns, a little bit of old fashioned hello-ing seems to be working wonders. I'll get into the roots of that and what else I'm doing in a moment. But first: A thought-provoking conversation about AI AI ethics for creatives (a free course) Final call for the best...

Hey Reader, As I continue to show up here authentically and honestly, it's so lovely to let you in on this little bit of good news. We've got a new Embedibble contract! The first since I repositioned the business a month ago. It feels like the concept is beginning to prove itself. I feel like I can do this. And it wasn't a mad move after all. But here's the thing: the source of this new bit of work didn't come from where I thought it would. More on that in a moment. I've also got for you: A...
