Tony's Chocolonely have got it right

Hey - it's Helen.

Utterly inspired today by Harry Dry's irregular newsletter. Canonical current reading for marketers and copywriters. Are you signed up? This was last week's edition.

Harry mentions Tony's Chocolonely for their deeply effective display ad. I'm mentioning it because I had no idea you could brand these delicious chocolate bars and now, frankly, I'm reverse engineering a reason to do so.

Octopus.do

Having lots of fun with this! Octopus is a visual site mapping tool first introduced to me via an agency client. Currently, I'm using it to build a landing page for Embedibble.

It's startlingly brilliant when you're trying to see and write something at the same time (as I often am). Check it out.

Seriously good people don't want to be employed

Some of them do. Many of them don't.

I'm curious about the intersection of creative talent, neurodiversity and workplace settings. The longer I'm self-employed, the more I recognise that my neurology was never meant for employment. And the more I talk to freelance people about this, the more I realise I'm not alone.

That's not to say neurodiverse people can't thrive in traditional employment. It's to say we're wise to be curious about it.

We all deserve the opportunity to pursue our potential.

For many, the backdrop for that isn't the stricture and scrutiny of employment. It might not also be the freedom and intimidating vastness of self-employment.

It might be somewhere in between: a supportive, remote setting that takes care of the stuff you struggle with while letting you show up as your best self. What do you think?

I'm working on it... #embedibble

Facilitation for freelancers

Next runs in June. Sign up here (5 spaces available).

Facilitation for agencies

I'm excited to be piloting this for the first time with a Manchester-based agency this summer. It's broader and more in-depth than my online course. It's in-person, spans two days and aims to give small agencies big in-room impact when they facilitate workshops.

What are you working on this week, Reader?

More soon,

Helen

Beg, borrow and steal, Reader, That seems to be the way of it with small business contracts. We live by an unspoken agreement that we'll all borrow each other's terms and hope to god no one actually takes us to court. But not any more folks! I've engaged the help of a brilliant small business solicitor and they've written me the most wonderful contracts. And I don't say that lightly. Because for many years, I used ProCopywriter's Plain English contract. It's hard to beat this contract if...

Networking, Reader. Networking is working. And ain't that always the truth? People buy people. We know this. So first up, here's today's golden nugget: if you're feeling the pinch or wondering how to add impact to your digital campaigns, a little bit of old fashioned hello-ing seems to be working wonders. I'll get into the roots of that and what else I'm doing in a moment. But first: A thought-provoking conversation about AI AI ethics for creatives (a free course) Final call for the best...

Hey Reader, As I continue to show up here authentically and honestly, it's so lovely to let you in on this little bit of good news. We've got a new Embedibble contract! The first since I repositioned the business a month ago. It feels like the concept is beginning to prove itself. I feel like I can do this. And it wasn't a mad move after all. But here's the thing: the source of this new bit of work didn't come from where I thought it would. More on that in a moment. I've also got for you: A...
